Langston University Students have been working on a drone that farmers will be interested in. Over the past semester, the technology department at Langston University has put together and calibrated a drone that will be able to look at nutritive status and pasture biomass.

“Nutritive status is basically the health of the land owners’ pastures,” said the Langston student.
The main goal for this project is to be able to send the drone out to collect information on livestock and pasture crop lands.
“The farmers are going to get updates on their telephones” said Dr. Marcio White.
Farmers will be able to get a notification to their phone to let them know what’s going on with their livestock and crops. This will save farmers time. Instead of having to go figure out what the problem is, they’ll be alerted as soon as it happens. The drones will also be able to determine the health of the livestock, track their location using real time gps and more.
The drone still hasn’t been taken out to fly yet because it still has to be calibrated. When the drone is finished, the technology student will take it out for flight training. Students will also be able to receive their drone flying license through various programs that have been set up.
